Capri or Anacapri?
We love Capri. There are no cars, so walking is blissful any time of day and magical at night. And Capri has a buzz. Piazza Umberto I, the main square, is a giant outdoor living room ringed with cafes and a step away from charming streets filled with chic international and local shops. We avoid the center during the day when it’s swarming with day-trippers, but when they leave at night, Capri comes alive for people-watching, strolling, shopping, and dining. Anacapri, another village located 10 minutes away by car from Capri center at the top of a steep winding road, is more spread out with cars and buses whizzing through the main roads. In Capri, where the natural ingredients are spectacular—fish, vegetables, and fresh fruit—the best cooking uses the bounty of nature in the simplest way possible. Nearly all the restaurants feature the same Caprese specialties though a few serve continental or nouvelle Italian food.
