A Lovingly Compiled 'Grab and Go' List of Hotels, Restaurants, Art, Sightseeing, and Shopping.

Location, location, location! While our favorite hotel is La Scalinatella, we’re also partial to Casa Morgano, both of which are run by the Morgano family. Each has its own special charm, and while neither offers the überstyle of contemporary luxury hotels, both are  very comfortable and offer an unbeatable combination of a very welcoming and highly professional staff dedicated to your every comfort as well as a prime  location. Both hotels are tucked away on a quiet lane and are but a brief walk to the many charms of Capri. We’ve also included Grand Hotel Quisisana which is welcoming to children and others which are lower priced options.  But in all cases, the full Capri experience for us is not just the hotel itself but also the ability to pop out of your hotel and be walking distance to most everything.

Next door to La Scalinatella, Casa Morgano is slightly more casual but sacrifices little on service or views, and it’s generally easier to book a room.  The rooms vary so it’s best to specify a deluxe sea view or junior suite sea view. It also has poolside dining for hotel guests, though no dinner is served. For breakfast, there is a buffet, but one can make special requests for eggs, fresh fruit or other items. There is a terrific little gym by the pool, and guests may use the tennis courts at Hotel Quisisana. Credit cards are accepted for the room charge, but transfers and boat charters must be paid in cash.

Recently renovated, this intimate 18-room hotel located on a tranquil lane is a real find.  The rates are quite reasonable for Capri, and the ambiance and sea views are charming.  There is a small pool where a light lunch is served.  The superior and deluxe double rooms have a terrace and sea view.  This hotel is nearly always fully booked so it’s important to make your reservation well in advance.

This intimate, quiet, villa-like hotel is distinguished by personal and attentive service and gorgeous sea views. We like the junior suites with two bathrooms and a balcony or patio. The hotel has 30 rooms (all with WiFi); 26 junior suites and four deluxe doubles which are basically the same size as the junior suites but don’t have the same views. A delicious continental breakfast is included and served either on your private terrace or on the central terrace; they’ll also make anything else you’d like. There is no dinner service. The pool is small but the serene setting offers dazzling views. The poolside restaurant, for hotel guests only, serves extraordinary lunches. They’ll also pack a lunch for the plane ride home. There is a new exercise room with cardio equipment and weights. It’s hard to get a reservation in high season, mid-June through August, so booking early is advised. Guests may use the tennis courts at Hotel Quisisana. No children under age 15. Credit cards are accepted for the room charge, but transfers and boat charters must be paid in cash or by personal check.

Also a Morgano property, this is a large, bustling deluxe hotel right in the center of the action with welcoming and professional service. It has two tennis courts and a spa. The outside terrace of the hotel is the perfect setting for cocktails and people watching. The best rooms have a sea view. There is a poolside restaurant for lunch. Children are welcome.

This charming villa-like property with a new pool and sea view is a minute away from the Quisisana and is also run by a member of the Morgano family. To reach the hotel, follow the directions to the Quisisana and then take the downhill path, Via Federico Serena, just to the right of the Quisisana. Hotel Flora is on the right.

A few minutes away from the Hotel Quisisana is this small, quiet, less expensive hotel located in a pretty setting with a small pool. Follow the directions to the Quisisana and just before you reach the hotel, turn right into Via Li Campi and follow the road to the flower-bedecked entrance to Hotel Villa San Felice on the left. Ask for one of the newly renovated rooms.
