  • Alice à Paris sells stylish clothing for children that is surprisingly moderately priced for the quality and design. This is the original shop; there is a new branch in the 6e.

    A charming, informal, small spot to dine on the Provencal cuisine of Olympe Versini. Favorites: grilled eggplant; vegetable ragout; rare tuna with foie gras; large platters of lamb roasted with garlic and potatoes.

    Within the 9th arrondissement, is a chic bohemian enclave, RUE DES MARTYRS, where shopping for food is a must, especially on Sunday morning. Many of these shops are closed on Mondays. The food shops on rue des Martyrs are found between rue Notre-Dame de Lorette and rue Victor Masse.

Favorites: traditional baguette with white flour or whole grains; renaissance baguette au sel de guerande.

    C. Bouchet, Fromager Affineur, the owner cheese maker, presides over this small shop bursting with a wonderful array of delicious cheeses. Favorites: Beaufort Alpage; Vacherin Fribourgeois; canapés of chevre wrapped with smoked salmon or prosciutto.
