The Ranking Process
Our methodology is designed to be simple, transparent, and free from bias. Here is how a community ranking is built from individual votes.
Open a List
Any visitor can open a top 10 list — no account required. Each list shows 10 items in a neutral starting order.
Drag & Drop to Rank
Visitors drag items into their preferred order. Your #1 goes to the top, your #10 goes to the bottom. It takes under a minute.
Submit Your Ranking
When you submit, your ranking is recorded as a set of position values — one for each item. No personal data is required.
Community Average Is Calculated
Each item's average position across all submissions is computed. The item with the lowest average position wins #1. Ties are broken by submission count.
Our Commitment to Integrity
We believe rankings are only meaningful when they are trustworthy. Here is what we do — and what we never do.
No Editorial Override
We never manually move an item up or down regardless of who made it or why.
No Paid Placement
Rankings cannot be purchased. No sponsored item has ever appeared in a community result.
Equal Vote Weight
Every submission carries identical weight. Frequent visitors do not have more influence than first-time visitors.
Real-Time Updates
The community result recalculates as each new vote arrives. There is no cached or stale rank order.
Open to Everyone
No login, no account, no paywall. Anyone can vote on any list at any time.
No Engagement Weighting
We do not boost items based on click-through rate, shares, or time-on-page. Only vote position counts.
Frequently Asked Questions
How are SendMeYourList rankings determined?
Rankings are determined entirely by fan votes. Visitors drag and drop items into their preferred order, and the platform averages every submitted ranking to produce the community Top 10. No editorial input or paid placement is involved.
Can anyone vote on a ranking?
Yes. Any visitor can open a list, drag items into their personal order, and submit. No account or login is required. Each session is counted as one vote.
How often do rankings update?
Rankings update in real time as new votes come in. The community Top 10 shown on each page always reflects the current average across all submitted rankings.
Is there any editorial or algorithmic curation?
No. SendMeYourList does not apply editorial judgement, sponsored placement, or engagement-based weighting. Every submitted ranking carries equal weight in the average.
What is the difference between the community ranking and my personal ranking?
The community ranking is the average order across all fan submissions. Your personal ranking is the order you drag the items into before submitting — it is saved so you can compare it against the community result.
